Mathil Movie Review - PP Movie World
PP Movie Rating:- **1/2 (2.5 Star/5)
Mathil is about Laxmikanthan, a common man who, after a long career in the field of drama, decides to create a house on his own. Everything is not well for long, however, as a crooked politician uses Laxmikanthan's house's wall for his political campaign. As a result of the incident, Laxmikanth confronts the politician in order to teach him a lesson.
Mathil is a film with a very simple plot and production style, but director Mithran Jawahar ensures that the film's believability factor and core emotions are maintained. The director's sensibilities in dealing with the problems in the film aren't always perfect, but this isn't a film that would bore you to tears. Mithran takes a minor social problem and makes it very relatable to the audience watching it, as it depicts how a common man can stand up to a powerful politician who is also trying to ascend the political ladder at the same time. The film never goes into extreme close quarters, but it manages to keep us entertained for the duration.
In the film, KS Ravikumar plays a troubled old man, and his performance is incredibly likeable. The director-actor demonstrates that he can play emotionally charged roles as well, and he does so with aplomb and without major hiccups. Mime Gopi is excellent, and the rest of the cast, which includes Srinath, Madhumita, and others, is also excellent.
The film's cinematography is adequate, but the music especially shines in the second half, where there are some excellent cues.
The strong success of KS Ravikumar is a plus.
Returning to the social media buzz show, the film takes the traditional route to solving its dilemma.
For me, it was a time-pass watch rather than a great film.
This could be slightly better than the other choices if you want to watch a new Tamil OTT release.
