What Is The Story About?

Soubin Shahir and Darshana play a couple who have recently found themselves in a relationship, and Irul appears on three of them. They plan to go on a retreat to get away from the stresses of their busy lives, but they get stuck in the middle of a snafu when their car breaks down. As a result, they spend the night in a house near the highway, but there's a mysterious man and more surprises in store.

Analysis

Irul follows in the footsteps of many Hollywood films, combining a slasher thriller with a small cast of characters. The film only has three characters in all, and it takes a straightforward approach and focuses on them. The plot, on the other hand, seems too thin for a film with just three actors, as the film drags on despite its short running time of one and a half hours. The issue here is a lack of suspense in the plot, which should have been addressed in a mature manner rather than giving way to the typical surprises that a storey like this has.

Performances

Fahadh Faasil is flawless in a position that requires him to do less. For the most part, the actor manages to keep the mysterious feel flowing, and Darshana Rajendran, who plays the story's weak character, ably supports him. Soubin Shahir is miscast as Alex, and the role would have been better served by a cooler, more fashionable star.

Music and Others Departments

The striking cinematography, amazing lighting and camera angles, as well as the chilling background score, all contribute to Irul's technical excellence.

Highlights

Fahadh Faasil's top score is unquestionably Irul's highlight.

Drawbacks

The issue is the thin plot, which does not excite the audience.

Did I Enjoy It?

I liked some of it, but it needed to be better overall.

Do I Recommend It?

Irul is a mediocre thriller that is only worth watching for Fahadh's success.
